The New plainBETA is Coming…
As I have been hinting at in comments on this blog and on RandomJabber, plainBETA is going to take a turn. I am working on a new layout - which I am quite excited about. I have also hinted at an actual logo for plainBETA - which is ready.

About the Logo
It is extremely simple, but it is very versitile. For example - I can now take that basic idea and create a post header image for just about any post I want. Furthermore, it has a sense of sleekness and technology-ish-ness about it.
Besides - I like it.
Now, before you start asking me where I got the logo idea - I must say I did not get the idea from Halo 3 - despite the similarities. I actually saw someone walk into work wearing a shirt with a similar looking circle, thought it was cool, and wanted to use it for a logo. I then contemplated using it for plainBETA, and this is the result.
The New Layout
As for the new layout to come…
Well, I’m not going to say anything about it.
Help?
Thus, if there are any graphic designers out there who are willing to help me fine tune my logo to give it a more professional sheen - I’d be more than happy for help.
In return you shall have my eternal thanks and some link love in multiple places.

The new logo is nice…… But I’m not a graphic designer so I can’t give any advice because I know nothing of whatever you need to know……

Yeah…
I thinking some variation of some kind - not all black (although it’s technically dark grey - #222222).
Some shading in the circle, some accents, or something like that.
But even so - you don’t need to be a graphic designer Cranston. If you look at it and think of something that could make it look better - tell me! :-D

Okay this is my last comment I promise… Why is RandumbPodcast’s site not working? And why there haven’t been any new episodes lately?

Cranston - comment all you want.
RandumbPodcast… Sean decided to shut it down - but we’re re-considering that.
We’ll be making the decision this Sunday.
As for the logo - how about no.

The whole podcast? Or just the site? If I can be of any assistance I shall offer up my meager knowledge to try and expand the podcasts life…….

The whole podcast was the idea.
We never get any listeners!
Or so we thought.
Like I said, we’re going to meet again and I’ll let you know if we get it back up.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the email, and it’s brave of you to take on a personal logo design. I spent A LOT of time on my own, and I still wonder how I could improve it.
Regarding your logo, personally, and sorry to say, I reckon you need to rethink it.
“I actually saw someone walk into work wearing a shirt with a similar looking circle, thought it was cool, and wanted to use it for a logo.”
It all depends on how serious you are about your identity, and how long you want it to last. For me, if something’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right, and your explanation of why you’re using this design isn’t great.
Have you asked yourself what you want your logo to say about you? How does it set you apart from your competition? Why will people remember your logo over another? Did any of your design sketches catch your attention? What’s the general level of feedback like?
At this stage I have more questions than advice, because I don’t know enough about what you want, but I do appreciate you asking, and best of luck getting it cracked.
Ciao for now.

Thanks for the feedback David!
It is greatly appreciated.
I am going to take your advice and re-think my design.
I have a new idea or two now…
And I totally agree with you - “if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.”
I shall ask myself those questions - and I sure hope to get myself some answers.
Again, thanks!
